Race starts for £200m M5 Junction 10 Improvements

Gloucestershire County Council is on the hunt for a contractor to deliver a £200m scheme to upgrade junction 10 of the M5 to the west of Cheltenham.

Currently the M5 Junction 10 only has slip roads to and from the north. This puts extra pressure on already congested local roads, particularly on Junction 11, which provides access to and from Cheltenham on the A40.

The preferred improvement scheme will include a roundabout built above the motorway.

The major project will also include a new West Cheltenham Link Road east of Junction 10 and widening of the A4019 to the east of Junction 10.

Under the present procurement plan firms will be shortlisted in February to bid, with view to selecting a preferred bidder next July.

The county council has successfully secured £249m for the proposed scheme after a bid to Homes England’s Housing Infrastructure Fund.
