Tritax Big Box and Bericote Properties have gained planning for a 2.3m sq ft warehouse in Dartford.

This morning Tritax confirmed it was advancing with the vast four-storey warehouse after confirming a pre-let with a major online retailer, understood to be Amazon.

It plans to invest £200m in the project at a 45-acre site plot at the 119-acre site of the old Littlebrook Power Station.

Contractor ISG is understood to be favourite to build the 60-week project, which would be Amazon’s largest distribution centre in Europe.

Nottingham-based Collins Earthworks has the site preparation deal.

The project is targeting a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating through a 3.5MW roof solar panel system which would be the UK’s biggest.

Other emission-reducing features would include an electric heating system, energy-saving lighting, low water use and 40 electric car-charging vehicle points
